The Idea:
If you’re stuck in a rut in your smoothie drinking, give this mango chai protein smoothie a try. I’m all for a smoothie filled with greens, berries and/or bananas, but sometimes you just want something different! The frozen mango is sweet and tropical and also thickens the smoothie. It goes really well with the chai flavors in the protein powder too. A little ground Cinnamon and turmeric bring out the warm flavors of the chai and also have amazing antioxidant powers.
The Ingredients:
The thing I like most about this smoothie is that you can always have the ingredients on hand for a quick, delicious breakfast (or lunch, snack or dinner). The mango and ground flaxseed will last forever in your freezer (or at least 6 months!), the spices and protein powder will be waiting in your pantry, and the almondmilk is good for weeks in your fridge.
As with any smoothie, you can run with the idea and add ingredients to suit your tastes. Maybe a different kind of milk, or protein powder, or adding extra ingredients like chia seeds.
To make the smoothie, throw everything in a high powered blender and in less than a minute, you’ll be enjoying a delicious drink!
The Payoff:
Stock up on frozen mango! Because you’ll be craving these healthy and sweet spiced mango chai protein smoothies. The mango is also really good mixed with frozen strawberries in a more traditional smoothie. I hate to play favorites, but mango might just be my favorite smoothie ingredient.

Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen mango chunks
- 3 cups reduced sugar vanilla almond milk, or whatever kind of milk you like
- 2 scoops (about 3/4 cup) chai protein powder
- 2 tablespoons ground flaxseeds
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in your blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into two tall glasses and enjoy your delicious (healthy!) smoothie.
Notes
If you use fresh mango, you can either cut it into chunks ahead of time and freeze, or use it fresh and add ice cubes to your blender.
