Artful Dishes takes data privacy seriously. This privacy policy explains who I am, how I collect, share and use personal information, and how you can exercise your privacy rights. My website address is: http://www.artfuldishes.com.
The Basics:
Artful Dishes is my personal blog where I share information on recipes, artwork and other subjects. I also may sell products, ebooks, artwork and other items, as well as have affiliate links for products sold through other companies. An affiliate link simply means if you click on the link and purchase the product I recommend, I will receive a small commission. Information is only collected if there is a reason for it. For instance, collecting email addresses for distribution of newsletters and posts.
Key Terms:
“Contact” is a person I may contact through my Distribution List.
“Cookie” is a small piece of data (a string of letters and numbers) sent from a website and stored on the user’s computer by the user’s web browser while the user is browsing. Cookies do not usually contain any information that personally identifies a user.
“Distribution List” is a list of my Contacts and all associated information related to those Contacts (for example, email addresses).

“Visitor” means any person who visits my website (that’s you!).
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Email E-Newsletter Subscription:
This site collects your name and email address when you sign up to receive my newsletter. I will only use your email address for the purposes for which you provided it to me. I may also from time to time send you emails regarding the website or other products or services that I believe may be of interest to you. You may opt out of such email communications at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” button at the bottom of the email. You can also edit your information by contacting me at kristine@artfuldishes.com. I will not share your email address with any third parties.
I use MailChimp as my email automation service provider. When you sign up for my email newsletter and you opt-in by hitting the subscribe button, you also understand and accept that your information will be sent to MailChimp for processing in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Terms.
Comments:
When visitors leave comments on this website the data shown in the comments form is collected. The visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string may also be collected to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment on this website you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.
I use Google Analytics to analyze the use of my website. Google Analytics gathers information about my website use by means of cookies. The information gathered is used to create reports about the use of the website.

Affiliate Marketing:
This website engages in affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing means embedded tracking links are used. If you click on a link, then a cookie will be placed on your browser for a given period of time in order to track any sales for purposes of commissions. The ‘cookie’ allows the merchant to know what website that sale came from in order to provide payment. This comes at no extra cost to you. You will not be paying a higher price for a product by clicking on an affiliate link. Our website simply gets a small commission from that sale.

How long we retain your data:
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, the personal information they provide in their user profile is stored indefinitely. You may click the “unsubscribe” button on any newsletter to remove this data. You may also email me at kristine@artfuldishes.com to edit your data.
